Welcome to the Delight Dandiya Fiesta, a spectacular Navratri celebration held in the heart of Owen Sound! This event is a vibrant and joyous gathering that brings together the diverse communities of Grey Bruce County to celebrate the spirit of Navratri through the traditional dance forms of Garba and Dandiya.

What is Navratri?
Navratri, which means “nine nights,” is one of the most significant festivals in Hindu culture. It honors the divine feminine energy, specifically Goddess Durga, in her nine different forms. Each night of Navratri is dedicated to a different aspect of the goddess, and the festival culminates in the celebration of Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
Garba and Dandiya: The Heartbeat of Navratri
Garba and Dandiya are traditional folk dances from the state of Gujarat, India, that are synonymous with Navratri celebrations.
- Garba: Garba involves circular movements around a centrally lit lamp or an idol of Goddess Durga, symbolizing the cycle of life.
- Dandiya: Dandiya is performed with sticks (dandiyas) and is a more energetic, rhythmic dance that follows Garba. Participants dance in pairs, striking the sticks in a synchronized manner, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere.
